An Open Letter to Honey Singh is a 3 minute 30 second rap video featuring Rene Sharanya Verma, a student of St. Stephens College, New Delhi, performing at Café Zingo Star in Greater Kailash-II as a part of Delhi Poetry Slam. The subject of the slam was "Portrait of a Lady". The rap number was composed in one hour at the cafe that hosted the slam. The video has been uploaded to YouTube using the handle, "Delhi Poetry Slam". The addressee referred to in the title is Indian artist Yo Yo Honey Singh. The video criticizes extant value systems in the media, advertising and the arts that demean women and commodify them.〔 The work is a response to the perceived misogyny in Singh's work. As an example Verma in an interview mentioned Singh's Blue Eyes as "catchy" and enjoyable, but that on paying attention, she found the lyrics "very problematic". ''Femina'' said that Verma uses phrases in Singh's works to express her disgust, and it appreciates the message Verma wishes to convey that every woman is intrinsically good the way she is. The target is not only Singh but also eve teasers provoked by works such as Singh's. Although there have been other protests against Singh's work, including petitions and an open letter written by Annie Zaidi in ''The Sunday Guardian'', Verma's rap number is appreciable because it uses the same format as Singh. ==Excerpts== "I am not an afterthought, I am not an overpriced sweater in Zara, I'm not an ambraan di queen or a kudi namkeen. I am not blue eyes, hypnotise. Mein choti dress mein bomb nahin lagti, yaar. I am not a woofer and you sure as hell ain't my amplifier, what are you a fucking transformer? And dear Honey Singh, if you feed my dog a nashe-wali biskoot, I will cut you up." 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「An Open Letter to Honey Singh」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
